Games have always been a substantial part of life. It provides great entertainment and joy to many people around the world and continues to rise in popularity with many games coming out each and every year. But let’s take a look at a game that’s been around for a while, but while being made in 2007, it still keeps a strong and healthy player base.
Team Fortress 2 (TF2) is one of the most iconic video games made out there. It helped inspire other video games such as Overwatch, Paladins, and Warframe. TF2 has 9 different classes, or characters, that you could play within the game. Featuring the Scout, Soldier, Pyro, Demoman, Heavy, Engineer, Medic, Sniper, and Spy. Each class has its own unique playstyle and roles in the game, with each of them being labeled in Offense (Scout/Soldier/Pyro), Defense (Demoman/Heavy/Engineer), and Support (Medic/Sniper/Spy). This game has a very special combat system that most FPS’s (First Person Shooters) don’t usually have, with some characters being able to shoot explosive projectiles, some building machines to be able to fire any detected enemies, characters able to instantly kill you with a single backstab no matter how large your health pool is. All of these factors help make TF2 what it is.
The community of TF2 is a lot like the real world. You can fit in and enjoy most parts, but there’s naturally a bad side. However, don’t let that get in the way of your experience playing this game. Even if there are hackers or bots in your server you could very easily avoid them by exiting that server and joining a new one. Asking around will also help you learn the game faster and going through the tutorial mode will teach you the basics of the game until you’re ready to learn more advanced playstyles. TF2 hosts several events based on holidays that make the whole community get together and enjoy their time and win a chance at getting a limited item only available for that one event. These events include Smissmas (Christmas), Scream Fortress (Halloween), Summer updates, and Winter updates.
While there are a lot of great games out there with bigger player bases and are more popular, taking a look at an old game like this may just be worth your while.
