Remembering Karenine
The awaited tree planting ceremony for one of Somerset’s own, thirteen year old Karenine Saint Louis, was held after school on Monday, August 28th next to the student walkway at the entrance of the campus. In early July, just shy of her final year in middle school, Karenine sadly passed away in a car accident.
Assistant Principal Mrs. Santiago began with a welcome of the large crowd that attended the ceremony. After a few emotional words from friends and teachers, the memorial tree for Karenine was planted with the help of school Dean of Discipline Mark Barrow and members of the Cougar football team.
Beside the tree was a plaque placed in her honor with the engraving, “We will cherish you.”
Karenine’s presence will be forever remembered by Somerset Academy Canyons. She was a caring and bright eyed girl. Our thoughts go out to her family and friends.

I was the only 6th grader there, I spoke. I never met her, but I bet she was a good person.
