Somerset Canyons Drill team began its season this fall and the Cougarettes are ready to spread school spirit this year.
“This team isn’t a sport it is a spirit”, 8th grade Kaitlin Greaves states, “…and we don’t just say it we mean it.”
Coach LeShawn mentors the girls to work hard as they practice five days a week, so they can put on the best performance they can give. Team member Kaitlin Greaves says they practice to perfect their dances because they have many performances and these practices are needed.
The girls on the team love being there and 8th grader Corel Hicks said her favorite part of being on the team is “the bond we all have and the special connection we have with one another. We’re always there for each other through the good and the bad times – no matter what.”
When the girls work really hard, and one can see the dedication they have.
Although the Cougarettes already performed for the recent Breast Cancer Awareness walk, more performances are expected in the future.
“I think the school will benefit from our drill team because they bring a positive vibe to the school”, said Corel Hicks.
