On Friday, June 14th, rising junior Cara Salsberry competed at the New Balance Nationals Outdoor event in Greensboro, North Carolina. The warm sun shined on the cool field, making it an ideal day for a meet. Though the weather was beautiful, nerves were evidently high amongst the throwers and no one surpassed their personal record of this track season. Salsberry’s marks were consistent despite this.

Salsberry competed against 35 other girls in the Emerging Elite division. She entered the meet ranked 5th and placed second with a throw of 40.42 meters (about 132 feet and 7 inches).

“I’m so glad to have gone from 13th place last year to 2nd place this year,” she said. “New Balance Nationals [Outdoor] is an amazing event, and I’m thankful to have been a part of it.”

Salsberry’s next competition will be at the Junior Olympics in Rock Hill, South Carolina from July 4th through 7th.
