Screams, shouts, and smiles: the best three words to describe this year’s middle school pep rally. After about twenty minutes of frantic scrambling for seats, the fun was about to begin.
First, the Girl’s soccer team made their rounds and chanted, as did the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams. The crowd screamed with spirit and support for their fellow cougars.
“It’s like organized chaos!” stated Kaleb Beek, the 8th Grade SGA Vice President.
Afterwards, Somerset’s little Greasers did a preview of Grease, to be performed in full on March 29th-30th. After their sneak-peak performance of “We Go Together”, the spirit stick was brought out, summoning a wave of cheers from each grade. Each fought hard to be the most spirited, but 7th grade eventually won the stick.
The pep rally games consisted of musical chairs (where 8th grade won), a students vs. teachers basketball game (where a 6th grader made the first hoop of the game; students won with a final score of 15 – 10), and a Hula Hoop game.
“It’s an honor to take part in this event,” said Riley Kasprzyk, the 8th Grade SGA President.
